The Royal Tunbridge Wells Dance Festival offers a senior bursary award designed to help fund the winning applicant in his/her pursuit of a stage career.  All applications must be received by the organisers by the final deadline of midday on Monday 16th February 2026.  Forms are available from our website and, once completed, should be sent to the Festival Committee via email at vjspurgin@gmail.com . 

 

Award Rules:

 

1.    Applicants must be aged 15 or over as at 1st January 2026 and must provide evidence that they have either (a) been offered a place for the forthcoming academic year to undertake a full-time dance education (b) have an audition in place (c) be already undertaking a full-time dance education.

        

2.    Applicants must have performed at least one solo discipline at the Royal Tunbridge Wells Dance Festival in at least four of the previous five years that the Festival ran (i.e. 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025).

3.    Applicants will be invited to enter the Bursary Class which will consist of two solos of different dance disciplines which they feel best demonstrate their abilities. Time limits are detailed within this Syllabus:  max. 2 mins (max. 2.5 mins for Musical Theatre)

4.    The Award will be given at the RTWDF Committee’s discretion and the decision will be informed by the adjudicator’s views.  The Committee reserves the right not to give the Award if a deserving applicant is not found.

5.    The Award will be handed to winning applicants on sight of a letter of acceptance or proof of attendance on a full-time programme from the appropriate training establishment.
