| SENIOR BURSARY AWARD |
| This Festival is delighted to offer, for the tenth year, a Bursary Award designed to help fund the winning applicant in his/her pursuit of a stage career. The Award is supported by Kent Youth Ballet which has made a sizeable donation towards the Bursary resulting in the first prize award being a substantial sum. |

Rules
- Applicants must be aged 15 or over as at 1st January 2009 and must provide evidence that they have either
- been offered a place for the forthcoming academic year to undertake a full-time dance education
- be already undertaking a full-time dance education.
- Applicants must have performed at least one sole discipline at the Royal Tunbridge Wells Dance Festival in at least four of the previous five years (i.e. 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 or 2008).
- Applicants will be invited to enter the Bursary Class which will consist of two solos of different dance disciplines, one of which must be classical (as defined at Rule 23 of this syllabus). Each dance should be two minutes long (two and a half minutes for a song & dance or character).
- The Award will be given at the Adjudicator's discretion. The Adjudicator reserves the right not to give the Award if a suitable applicant is not found.
- The Award will be handed to winning applicants on sight of a letter of acceptance or proof of attendance on a full-time programme from the appropriate training establishment.

| JUNIOR BURSARY AWARD |
| The Festival is delighted to offer its younger competitors, for the third year, the opportunity to win a Junior Bursary Award. |
| The Award is being supported by Kent Youth Ballet and the winner will receive the Kent Youth Ballet cup together with the Award - full details of which will be available during the week of the Festival. |
| Competitors in the age groups 8 years to 15 years* (inclusive) may be eligible to compete for the award if they have been placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their ballet and one other solo discipline during the week of the Festival. |
| The Bursary Class will take place on the last Sunday of the Festival - competitors being required to perform their two dances. The presentation will be made later that afternoon at the Cup Award Ceremony. |
| *please note that any competitor who is entering the Senior Bursary Award will be ineligible to enter for the Junior Bursary Award |
